After Kate crashed and burned with possibly the worst dress ever produced on Project Runway, the remaining five designers compete to see who will move forward to Fashion Week. Or as Heidi puts it, “That sausage is dangling right in front of your nose right now.” The designers are shipped off to a butterfly house to meet with a makeup artist blah blah blah mascara with “fanned out fluttering volume,” and the designers will be creating an avant-garde look inspired by butterflies. byAfter recovering from their stalkers superfans and losing Krazy Ken, the seven remaining contestants are faced with the best challenge yet—it’s the textile challenge! The designers will get inspired by “next generation innovators” who serve as the muses for the challenge. There are artist and nerdlings and Miss Universe, and somehow this is supposed to translate into a textile pattern. Continue reading

Heidi gives the designers the morning off and sends them to a Southern-style brunch. Croissants, coffee, French toast…so what’s the catch? It’s a challenge to design for the modern Southern woman. They meet Heidi and Tim at an obstacle course on the Upper East Side where they have to dodge Ladies Who Lunch. The winner gets an extra hour for the one-day challenge and will choose their fabric first. The winning look will be manufactured and sold as part of Heidi’s performance wear collection. Last week on Project Runway, Tim Gunn used his patented Tim Gunn Rescue™ to save Justin from elimination. This means we still have three dozen or so designers left. They assemble themselves before their spirit guide, Heidi Klum, who sends them to nirvana—the Marie Claire shoe closet. Ooh! Ahh! It is filled with joy, happiness, and heels higher than a Real Housewife on a bender. The challenge is to create a look inspired by a pair of shoes. But, the designers only get to choose their shoes if they get one question correct on a fashion history quiz. The last two shoe-less designers are Dom and Miranda, who apparently know nothing about the industry in which they work and, as punishment, are stuck with a pair of flats. Continue reading
With Sandro loose in New York City, the remaining Project Runway contestants meet Tim Gunn and the marketing manager for Lexus and You get a car! You get a ca—oh. No cars? No cars. Okay, so just look at the cars. Continue reading
