Oh thank goodness, it’s now only 22 hours until the wedding. That means this show might actually end at some point in the near future. Barney is in jail, or at least handcuffed to a heating pipe in the laser tag security office. Robin is pissed, because she’s missing her rehearsal dinner.
Barney came up with the idea of the laser tag rehearsal dinner a few months back. This leads to jokes about Robin being from Canada. Surprisingly, no maple syrup jokes. She compromised by agreeing to not have the wedding in Canada, so Barney compromised by having the rehearsal dinner at a French restaurant called La Zertag.
Barney’s bachelor party was a huge prank arranged by Robin just to surprise him with his favorite non-porn actor, William Zabka. So he surprised her with a suitcase filled with puppies. Robin put the kibosh on surprises, which Lily says is the best part of marriage. But Barney thinks this means she is planning a surprise laser tag rehearsal dinner. Since Lily can’t keep a secret, her complete insistence that there is no surprise laser tag rehearsal dinner (and assistance setting up what Barney believes is the decoy rehearsal dinner) should have convinced Barney that there is no laser tag rehearsal dinner!
Barney notes that the only place in town that sells ice is only six miles away from the laser tag place, so when Robin says that they have run out of ice, Barney’s imagination runs even wilder. For some reason Lily blurts out her drama about Marshall being picked to be a judge so her life in Italy is ruined right before the rehearsal dinner because it’s all about her.

Barney went to the laser tag place looking for the surprise laser tag rehearsal dinner and, when he didn’t find one, threatened to dunk the snack boy’s head into a vat of scalding whiz. And that is why he is being held until the police arrive.
Finally, Ted lets Lily in on the surprise rehearsal dinner, which is a skating rink disguised as a laser tag place. You see, Barney wanted to surprise Robin with a little bit of Canada to New York, and laser tag was just a ruse. There’s a figure skater who I guess maybe I’m supposed to recognize and a song from a Canadian band I’ve never heard of sung by Alan Thicke, a skating moose, and Ted is dressed up as Liberace.
