The remaining teams start out in Switzerland and are headed for…Dresden, Germany. Team Bro leaves at 2:30 a.m., but the first train doesn’t depart until 5:26 a.m., which means everyone else catches up. One of the Bros got his bag stolen while he was sleeping on the train. Luckily he still has his passport so he can continue on with the race. Just, without a change of underwear.

Once in Dresden, the teams take a taxi to the Ministry of Finance, which I thought only existed in Harry Potter. The next clue involves a car product placement and requires teams to answer questions about their destination on a touch screen. The massive amount of ignorance about simple history questions is embarrassing. Teams eventually figure out that they have to drive to Berlin and search for the Brandenburg Gate.

The Newlyweds get to the clue box first and are sent to the rooftop of the Park Inn Hotel at Alexanderplatz, where they will base dive. At night. Meanwhile, My Family Is Famous got separated from Team Bro, so now they’re lost in Berlin.

Base diving is a lot more structured than bungee jumping, so it makes for boring television. The next task is to go to Train Trials train museum and put together train tracks and keep a train on track for one complete circuit. Font Follies Transport two gigantic letter through the city streets to the font museum.

Newlyweds choose Font Follies, along with Roller Derby, Team Bro and My Family Is Famous. Only YouTube choose Train Trials. Newlyweds choose “b” and “o” and start running through the city. Roller Derby choose “u” and “n,” Team Bro choose “v” and “r,” and My Family Is Famous selects “k” and “s.” The letters that didn’t have loops to put around a neck were harder to carry, so getting there first and making a good choice was the key to this task.

The clue sends the Newlyweds to Salon Zur Wilden Renate, where they identify J.F.K.’s “I am a Berliner” quote to gain entry to the East Berlin nightclub. Then, one team member must go through a twisted labyrinth in the nightclub to find their next clue.

At Train Trials, YouTube starts to lay the train tracks and realize that “we’re building Christmas.” Unfortunately, their train knocked over a tree on the first go-around. Team Bro aren’t having any luck, either. While waiting on a street corner for directions, they drop the letter “v,” which cracks. Rather than walk back for another letter, they switch to the other detour.

Roller Derby deliver their letters next, while YouTube finally get their train to go around the track in one piece. My Family Is Famous arrives at the nightclub next because Roller Derby get totally lost out in the wilds of Berlin. That allows Team Bro to finish their train task and move on to the Roadblock. They both get to the nightclub at the same time, so now it’s a race to stay out of last place. Rather than, you know, race, they work together.

The Newlyweds finish the Roadblock first and are sent to the pit stop at The Kurfürstendamm. Meanwhile, Team Youtube arrives at the nightclub and deems it the best Roadblock in Amazing Race history. Considering they had to ask for help in identifying the J.F.K. quote, I think they may not have a very good handle on history in general.

Team YouTube check in at the pit stop in second place, followed by My Family Is Famous as team number three. In a footrace to the finish, Team Bro checks in as team number four, and Roller Derby is the last team to arrive. But, it’s a non-elimination leg, so they just have one of those little Speed Bumps during the next leg of the race.

Next week, Scotland! And a Double U-Turn!
